Friends of St Joseph's School are now fundraising to improve our school security.
As you all know our school suffered an arson attack on the first day of the summer holidays. This was absolutely heartbreaking for everyone and unfortunately it even made the national news. Whilst we do have insurance, which will cover the damage of the fire, we really need to improve the school’s security provisions. The money raised will cover items such as new electric security gates, additional higher quality cameras and the infrastructure and installation costs that these provisions incur. On Monday I had the pleasure of taking the cross country team to St Michael and St Johns where we joined 29 schools within the Ribble Valley for the annual event. I am delighted to say that the children performed amazingly well with Meila gaining 3rd position and Harrison 4th position. Our boys team came first and our school team came third overall! Meila, Harrison, Oliver, Josh and Zac all came within the first 25 runners and therefore qualify for the East Lancashire Race which is in Townley Park, Burnley on 17th June. I could not be more proud of the whole team and to the children who take part in cross country club each Tuesday whatever the weather!
I am delighted to announce that we have secured the School Games Gold award for the third time for our commitment, engagement in school games for 2023/24!
Hello everyone,
Thank you to everyone who encouraged extended family and friends to vote for our class in the Facebook Paint pot competition, we were thrilled to find out this morning that we had won. Claire from Paint pot will be visiting at the beginning of December when the children will have a morning of fun with the Stick man story followed by painting a piece of pottery. Claire will then take these away to be glazed and fired before returning them to school in time for Christmas. This will all be free of charge as competition winners!
Year 5 and 6 football team took part in the Ribble Valley Cup Competition. Our players gave it their all, coming fourth overall and winning a place at the Accrington Stanley competition – a huge thanks to Mr Tipton for guiding the team along the way. In other football news, I am delighted to tell you that Harrison from Year 6 has been selected to play for the county football team, Harrison has such a talent in all areas of sport and we are so proud of his achievements!
