Jack and the Beanstalk

The fairy tale story of Jack and the Beanstalk has gripped the attention of our children during the first half of the summer half term.

Mapping skills have been developed as children have created their own 3D maps of where fairy tale characters might travel on their adventures. All children have tried to be imaginative when choosing what they might find at the top of their very own beanstalk and all the reception children have written and illustrated their own magic beanstalk stories. Many children have used the creative area to make a plant of their own rather than a beanstalk.

Children's number recognition skills and finding the number that is 1 more has led to every child threading their own numbered beanstalk.

Some bean seeds are certainly showing the potential to grow into a huge bean stalk plant, while others are struggling to establish roots and shoots, we might have to plant a second seed for those children!
