To grow daily in God's love, blossoming in His will

World Book Day 2024

Our children and EYFS staff arrived in school armed with their favourite bedtime story, their favourite bedtime toy and wearing their pyjamas, ready for a cosy day of sharing books and stories.

Snack time was spent listening and watching someone from Burnley theatre reading the story of Charlie’s Choices along with lots and lots of other schools in Lancashire- the children were excited to see themselves in a box on the screen, but staff were reminded of lockdown’s online teaching!

The children told others in their key person groups why they had chosen their book and toy as their favourites. Reception children wrote about their favourite books and all children used their imaginations to think about what story adventures their toy might go on. The children also practised their repeat pattern making and design skills by making book marks.
Then at 2.30pm, the most anticipated part of the day was when lots of parents and grandparents arrived to share books with their children in a range of cosy and chilly places. Meanwhile, those who’s parents were unable to attend, went off to enjoy a special story session in the library with Nrs Grierson.
