To grow daily in God's love, blossoming in His will
What is the Examen?
The Examen is a daily prayer of reflection. It was developed by St Ignatius of Loyola, to help us discern God's presence in our lives. It involves a series of five steps: giving thanks, praying for insight, reviewing the day's events, repenting for mistakes, and committing to live more faithfully in the future. The goal is to become the best version of ourselves, becoming more like Christ and growing closer to God, by reflecting on how we have responded to God's presence throughout the day.
Each day at St Joseph's, pupils pray the Examen, practising the virtue of gratefulness, and spending time in quiet and stillness, where we know God speaks into our hearts.
The Examen helps us to reflect on our choices, and how we can become better versions of ourselves.
