St Joseph's Roman CatholicPrimary School

To grow daily in God's love, blossoming in His will

Catholic Life & Social Action

At St Joseph's we respect and care for the dignity of all people, and we care for the gift of God's creation (all his beloved children, his animals, plants, and the world itself). We recognise that all people are made in God's image and likeness, and that God gifted us the world to look after.

Central to our social action, are our understanding of Catholic Social Teaching, and British Values, which both teach us to have tolerance and respect for others, and to treat each person with dignity.

St Ignatius devoted himself to serving God by going out into the world where the need was greatest. He worked hard to become as much like Jesus as he could, following in Jesus's footsteps of service, particularly by meeting the needs of the poorest and most neglected people.

We too strive to be more like Jesus, being called in action to serve those in need in our world. Our Chaplaincy Team, and our Caritas Ambassadors, are pupil bodies who support and lead our school in fundraising, supporting the works of charities both close to home, and charities such as Jesuit Missions, who support projects around the world.

As Catholic’s we are called to respect each person, made in God’s likeness. We are called to promote peace and to be stewards for our common home. We are called to ensure everyone’s voice is heard in society, and to stick together in solidarity to support one another. We are called to care for the poorest in our world, just as Jesus did, and to work for the common good of all people.

We root our works of service and our call to social action in our understanding of Catholic Social Teaching, and the call from God to respect each and every part of his creation. We respect and show love for all of God's people, animals, and the beautiful world he made for us.
