St Joseph's Roman CatholicPrimary School
To grow daily in God's love, blossoming in His will
As Spring arrives another term is almost over and it has been another busy one, with lots of progress being made across the curriculum. We have done lots of number activities to help with subitising (recognising how many objects are in a set without counting), use of mathematical language, recognising numerals, counting and comparing sets and gaining a thorough understanding of the composition of numbers. Nursery children are learning early reading skills, trying to identify initial sounds in words and rhyming pairs. Bertha the Bus and Silly Soup games are always popular along with a range of number songs and rhymes. Reception children are becoming increasingly confident at reading and writing compound words and most are writing independent sentences with a capital letter to start, a full stop to end and finger spaces in between.
We have been looking and listening for signs of Spring and look forward to seeing lambs in the nearby fields soon.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
