​St. Joseph’s operates a “Healthy Eating” policy, which is reflected in the menus offered.

School meals cost £2.20 a day and are paid for in advance.
Meals may be paid for per week on a Monday morning.
Alternatively meals can be paid for on a per month or per term basis. 
Please contact the school office so that an account can be sent home for your child.

Cheques are to be made payable to Lancashire County Council and put into a clearly marked envelope with the relevant details:
  • Full name of child / children
  • Class
  • Amount enclosed

Envelopes are available in the school entrance hall.

​Provision is made for children wishing to bring their own packed lunch to eat in the school hall.
Please note that no glass bottles are allowed and we ask you not to include any fizzy drinks.
Packed lunch boxes are stored in a designated area. 
This area is not refrigerated so please consider the contents carefully.

Universal Free School Meals:
​From September 2014 children in Reception, year 1 and year 2 are entitled to free school meals.

Free school meals are offered to children of families who are in receipt of:
  • Income Support
  • Job Seekers Allowance (Income based)
  • Support under par t VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • The Guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
  • Income related Employment Support Allowance
  • Child Tax Credit and are not entitled to Working Tax Credit and your annual income, as assessed by the Inland Revenue, does not exceed £16,190 (April 10 figure).
The Government does not allow us to recognise any other benefit other than those mentioned above.

How to apply:
To apply, complete an application form (link above) or simply ring your Local Area Education Office with the following details:
  • Your name
  • Date of birth
  • National Insurance number
An immediate on-line decision can be given.

You do not need to re-apply annually. Your children will continue to receive free school meals unless you cease to be entitled and you will be informed should that arise.
