After choosing to turn the classroom role-play area into a café, the foundation class children went to visit Millie's to observe first hand how a café should be run. Following a rainy walk, we were welcomed into the café by Millie and her family and shown to our reserved tables. Special menus had been written just for us, so everyone was able to order a drink and a cake or cookie. Millie visited each table and wrote down our orders, then we chatted with our friends while the food and drinks were prepared. Millie's Dad is the chef, he was busy preparing hot food ready for lunch time. Once our tummies were full it was time to queue at the counter to pay our bills. We thanked the staff for a lovely morning, then just had time to go and see the poppy wreaths at the cenotaph before returning to school. We are now experts on cafes and looking forward to setting up our own!
