However, we are making the best of this tricky situation and the children have been really impressing me with their attitude and efforts to continue with their learning while keeping safe and healthy.
Our learning has been based around winter weather and in particular snowmen. Many children had made snowmen before term, lockdown and isolation started. They have painted or drawn pictures of their snowman/lady- this week's job is to make up their own snowman adventure stories and for some to become illustrators and authors. The maths has also been snowman related, with nursery number lines being used for number recognition, accurate counting forwards and backwards to find one more/one less than any number. The reception children have then been using these number lines to help them complete subtraction sums. This week we will use them to help us with counting in 2s.
In addition, we've made the most of the cold and frosty weather to become scientists with lots of ice experiments and observations. There's no wonder it felt like such a long week- what a lot of learning from these amazing children and their amazing families!
