Peter and Ceila from Mary's Meals visited us today to recieve a cheque and to thank all the children for the backpack items and money collected. St. Bernadette's house led the fundraising and £285 was raised from the sponsored run. This should provide around 1900 meals for children who rely on their one hot meal each day. Celia told us that all our backpack items are already on their way to Africa.

For the very first time we have had children competing in a skiing competition. Four girls, Louisa, Helena, Pippa and Maria skied at Pendle ski slope in a qualifying round for the national finals. All the girls did amazingly well and it is possible that Louisa may qualify for the national final.
It was lovely to welcome back all our children today, including many families who are new to the school and children who are just starting their St Joseph's journey. After a very hectic start to the morning and a few tears from just one or two children (and mums) it was very soon all smiles and busy children exploring their learning environments and making new friends. We have 15 new reception children this year and 10 nursery "bunnies". We look forward to helping them grow.
