Four pupils from year 2 attended a Gymnastics taster session at Ribble Valley Gymnastics Academy in Blackburn. This is an amazing venue which is fitted out to facilitate children learning and accomplished gymnasts to train. The children were able to use beams and a vaulting horse, spring boards and mattresses and to have a go with rhythmic gymnastics equipment. They all joined in and enjoyed their evening.

All members of St. Bernadette's House presented an assembly to the rest of the school to highlight the work of CARITAS. St. Bernadette's have chosen CARITAS to enable them to become involved in the social action of helping those in need. The children were trying to raise awareness of the charities' work with young mother, refugees and homeless people. They will be organising a sponsored run for the whole school in April to raise much needed funds for the charity.
A group of Year 6 children went to St. Augustine's to take part in a Maths competition. The team enjoyed the experience very much and were a credible fifth in the whole competition.
In order to raise awareness of Fair trade an after school cafe was held and well attended by people from the village, parents and friends. St. John's Church brought fair trade goods to sell and many parents helped by baking items containing fair trade products. £65 was raised to help fund fair trade and Eco projects. Thank you to all who helped.
Brother John from THOMAS, Blackburn visited the school and spoke to the children in assembly about the work of the charity. He was presented with a cheque for around £300 by St. Michael's House. The money was raised from stalls held in the Autumn term.

Our team fought hard at the tournament and won 4 out of their five matches, losing only to St. Mary’s Langho. They were unfortunate not to qualify for the semi-finals. Captain, Lucas Winstanley lead his team with great skill and enthusiasm. |
